From Business to Lifestyle
Have you ever noticed that writers are also avid readers? Did you know that musicians who play instruments or sing also enjoy listening to music? Ever wonder why high powered CEOs who love the business they are in will read business journals and other industry specific literature over lunch? The answer is surprisingly simple: for them their business and way or making a living has actually become a lifestyle. More often than not, these individuals are doing what they love; thus their talents, skills, and interests determined which profession to choose.
Of course, many others have found jobs that neither reflect any hobby, talent, and enjoyable activity but are little more than ways to make money in an effort to feed a family and provide for personal needs. Even though there is nothing wrong with this way of earning a living, you will be able to differentiate these workers by what they do in their off time. If you do not see the secretary hone her skills after hours by working to increase her typing speed, if the nurse after hours does not read up on new medical advances, and if the cook after hours does not work on perfecting a new signature dish, then the odds are good that the job is not so much an extension of them but merely a necessary activity to be performed in a limited amount of time.
Interestingly, this is also a great way of differentiating the successful entrepreneur from the one who will barely hang on. If you embark on multi level marketing (MLM) or any other form of network marketing, and do not have the desire to turn it from business to lifestyle, then you most likely are not going to become a natural at your given profession. You may end up being the network marketer who is constantly changing the magnets and stickers on the car to reflect the latest and greatest networking opportunity you have found and who is a barely tolerated guest at family functions for fear that you will once again break out into yet another sales pitch for the latest widget you are selling.
Putting together an effective down line will be like pulling teeth simply because would-be entrepreneurs are not drawn to you. Similarly, customers do not see you as the genuine article and you will have a harder time than most closing sales. This is not to say that you cannot have a financially rewarding career in network marketing, not so! You will, however, have to work a lot harder for your success and your sale than other who will transcend the business only attitude and actually turn their job into a passion that not only governs what they read, but also the need to join organizations, to network even if there is not profit involved, and who will seek to further the business as a whole and not just their own company.
Going from business to lifestyle is only possible if you believe in the product you are selling and if you are willing and able to participate in the intricacies of network marketing in the first place. Those who are not cut out for this line of work will never have the ability to make it into a lifestyle. Before becoming a network marketer, make sure it is in your blood!
